We are a grassroots nonprofit dedicated to empowering Black girls in grades 6–12 through culturally responsive afterschool programming rooted in wellness, identity, leadership, and sisterhood. As we prepare to launch in Fall 2025, we are seeking passionate, skilled individuals to help guide our mission forward.

    Location: Greater Grand Rapids Area (Virtual + In-Person)
    Time Commitment: 3–5 hours/month
    Term: 2 years (renewable up to 3 terms)

    About LeadHERship Impact

    LeadHERship Impact is a grassroots nonprofit launching in Fall 2025, designed to empower Black girls in grades 6–12 through culturally responsive afterschool programming. Our mission is to cultivate sisterhood, leadership, identity, and wellness while connecting youth to real-world opportunities.

    Why Join the Board?

    As a founding board member, you'll be instrumental in building the foundation of a movement. You’ll help shape the vision, amplify our mission, and ensure the sustainability of the organization. You’ll also support the growth of young Black girls who deserve to be seen, heard, and celebrated.

    General Board Member Responsibilities

    • Attend monthly virtual meetings and quarterly in-person sessions

    • Provide oversight, guidance, and strategic direction

    • Serve as an ambassador for the organization in your networks

    • Contribute to fundraising efforts and support donor development

    • Lead or support projects based on your role and expertise

    • Commit to shared accountability using a collaborative task management system

    • Participate in onboarding, board training, and annual goal-setting

    (Note: The Mission Steward, Youth Program & Curriculm Chair role is currently held by the Founder, Lariesha Lee.)

    Available Board Roles & Descriptions

    1. Secretary
    Tracks meeting minutes, manages board documents, sends out meeting reminders and action items, and helps with internal communication. Plays a project management support role.

    3. Treasurer
    Oversees the financial health of the organization, develops and monitors budgets, reviews spending, helps ensure compliance, and prepares quarterly financial summaries.

    4. Fundraising & Development Chair
    Leads donor engagement strategies, fundraising campaigns, and events. Works closely with the Founder to identify funding opportunities and support sustainability.

    5. Marketing & Communications Chair
    Oversees branding, messaging, and outreach. Supports social media strategy, promotional campaigns, and helps amplify youth voices and impact stories.

    6. Equity & Community Partnerships Chair
    Focuses on strengthening relationships with local organizations, schools, and community members. Ensures programs and partnerships align with our commitment to equity and representation.

    7. Youth Representative (ages 16–22)
    Offers perspective on programming, shares ideas from youth peers, and helps inform culturally relevant decisions. Participates in youth advisory efforts and has a limited or advisory vote (as defined by board consensus).

    Who We're Looking For

    • Individuals passionate about youth empowerment and Black girl liberation

    • Those with lived experience or professional expertise in nonprofit, education, mental health, leadership, or community organizing

    • Self-starters who thrive in mission-driven work and value collaboration

    • Residents of or deeply connected to the Greater Grand Rapids community
